For obvious reasons, I kinda have the number "three" on the brain right now. And that means it's finally time for me to review Disney's The Three Musketeers, which once upon a time was my favorite movie ever.

It's once again time for my favorite internet holiday - Talk Like a Pirate Day! And what better way to celebrate than by reviewing a pirate movie...from the Silent Era. (Originally posted on Channel Awesome on March 7, 2016)
Douglas Fairbanks Jr. plays twin brothers on a mission of vengeance in The Corsican Brothers, an excellent swashbuckler I wish I'd heard of sooner. The Prisoner of Zenda is not only one of my favorite movies, but is also a rare occasion of a film adaptation being better than the novel it's based on. (Original version posted on Channel Awesome on October 6, 2014)
I've seen a lousy adaptation of a book, Scaramouche! Scaramouche! Overrated on Fandango! Fans say it's delighting, But it's not exciting me! (Original version posted on Channel Awesome on September 15, 2014)
This Friday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. And what better way to celebrate than reviewing Captain Blood, one of the best pirate movies ever made! (Originally posted on Channel Awesome on July 14, 2014)
Even though I'm a huge fan of swashbuckler films, The Spanish Main was one that took me a long time to finally get around to seeing. I went into it with low expectations, but I have to admit, it was pretty decent. Not great, but entertaining. Plus, the star was Paul Henreid, who most people know primarily from his role as Victor Laszlo in Casablanca (1942), so it was interesting to see him in this sort of role. An all-star cast faithfully brings Robert Louis Stevenson's beloved adventure novel to life in an excellent TV movie. |
